I didn’t stay for the finals. So I didn’t know who won. I don’t think I faced any of these guys. Better luck next time.

Today I was looking at MTG Salvation and I noticed they added a bunch of new cards to the Shards of Alara spoiler. One card in particular caught my attention: Goblin Assault.

Well if this isn’t the Bitterblossom for goblins I don’t know what is. I wonder if each major creature type will get a card like this. Kind of lame if you ask me. Bitterblossom is so good and it will be annoying if every deck will begin to run these enchantments. Assault is better because you don’t loose any life but it does cost one more. Still an amazing rare if you ask me.

People have gotten their hands of the Alara Planeswalker’s Guides this week. I haven’t had a chance to see one but I’ve looked a what is available and it seems to be more detailed info on what we already know.
Most exciting is the information on the new Planeswalkers. I really excited about Sarkhan Vol who will I am assuming summon dragons. I don’t know if this will be like dragon storm but I’m assuming he will have an ability that removes 6-8 loyalty counters and puts a dragon from deck or hand into play. Maybe just a 5/5 dragon token with flying.

So with the new magic site launch this week we get to see a whole bunch of new Alara artwork. I don’t have any other information about the images other than you can check them out for your self at various places on the site.

Wizards officially spoiled the Shards of Alara booster box, booster packs, and tournament box artwork.
Link here for all of the booster packs. Personally I like the tournament box art the best. Except what is up with them blacking out the side of the box? Some creature they don’t want spoiled no doubt. The side of the box is clearly photoshoped.

The new home of Magicthegathering.com is alive and online. There are lots of Alara spoiler images and the whole thing seems to be working really well. I haven’t had time to check out everything but this evening I’ll spend some time getting familiar with the site. Here are a few screen shots from the interesting splash page.

Since Wizards is updating the magicthegathering.com site this week I’m wondering a few things.
1. Will all the links that myself and others have made to the site all become irrelevant? For example, I’ve linked to many articles magic posts. Will the path to those articles change?
2. If you haven’t noticed today the gatherer is down. Probably because they are working on making the changeover. But same as question #1 will the card images I’ve linked to be different or even the card description?
It would be a pain to have to relink everything, but I’m excited to see the new site and I’m really hoping they did their homework and created a great site.
Blowfly Infestation with Eventide August 26, 2008

If there I had to choose one standard deck specifically that got a huge bump when Eventide released it has to be the Blowfly Infestation deck that I had been working on. The deck already had a good amount of destruction but with the addition of Soul Snuffers and Necroskitter things just got better.
Currently I’m running a mono black build, but I have seen other variations. One especially cool build is Ben Bleiweiss’s Building on a budget. His deck runs flourishing defenses. An extreemly interesting means of overwhelming your opponent. Check it out.
I was able to play my version this past weekend in a casual group. Basically the game was a four man chaos match. I was able to get blowfly on the table and then Necroskitter. My first soul snuffers was quickly countered, but I drew into another and when it hit the board I had killed and taken nearly every other creature on the table.
I’ll post an updated deck list when I get a chance this week.

I was checking out Magic Deck Vortex today and I found a new collection of Shards of Alara Spoiler art. Enjoy.
This last creature maybe the flying creature in the background of the Esper wallpaper spoiler. Hmm.
