Today Wizards of the Coast announced the next block Scars of Mirrodin. Just in time to distract you from ruining your computer by drooling over Rise of the Eldrazi spoilers.
This confirms most of the rumors that the set is going to feature artifacts and be a revisit to Mirrodin. I’m pretty excited about an artifact set because I wasn’t playing magic when Mirrodin block was in standard.
I’m no spoiler expert but I expect that we won’t see a cycle of artifact lands, but if we do we won’t see any abilities that let you sac all your artifacts to annihilate your opponent. I do expect affinity to come back in some form. I mean why not, it is an exciting mechanic that has a lot of great potential. For a quick look back at affinity check out Mike Flores’s Top Decks article today and scroll about halfway down. I’ve only played against affinity once, at a recent PTQ, and smashed it with mono red.
Anyway here are the set details.

That would really be great!!!
I hope that affinity is going to be included in the set!
yeah, me too!
meh.. im kind of worried… I was one who quit because of affinity and have now just came back to magic after the years have passed. Now, to hear it may come back, I sure hope it has been considered quite well. I have faith in R&D, though. I would love to see Tinker of all things to come back.. really miss the old deck. Artifacts rock.
go infect and player poison counters
