Shards of Alara: Wallpaper Esper August 15, 2008

Up next we have Esper the blue world in Shards of Alara. My first thought when I saw this was the cloner people in Star Wars Episode II, the difference is these guys have a sharp edge. This feels very futuristic and blue. Who are those little dudes at the bottom, aliens? Old Yoda like Kithkin?!? Blue looks like it is getting it’s fair share of warrior esk wizards as well with the guy in the middle. I’m going to assume the guy on the far left is an elemental wizard. So we could be looking at two new creature types in this image.

The giant mechanical body with a face and bird wings in the background really has my interest. It looks like another image I’ve seen before but I can’t quite place it. Maybe something out of Kamigawa.

I think the little dudes up front are like dwarf vedalkens.

The guy in the middle is definitely some kind of spellsword or something due to the fact that only one of his arms has filigree. On Esper, how much filigree your body is made up of, determines how magically adept you are.

I am rather interested in the image of the winged creature behind the main subjects in this wallpaper as well.
At GenCon Indy, WoTC did display a creature which in all likelihood is the creature in question but unfortunately no name and not very good detail in the image that was taken of this display.

This deffintely has me excited the most out of all five so far. I think the little dudes remind me a lot of the Guardians from Green Lantern Comics. Or if you would like to be more particular with the current story lines the Hope Corps. Which is a spin off of Green Lanterns in which there are multiple differnt emotions that gain there own rings and likewise ring bearers. The Hope faction’s energy output it blue.

do you have any tips for a new user with esper

My favorite cards in Esper are Master Transmuter, Sphinx of the Steel Wind, and Filigree Angel. The master Transmuter works great with the boarder posts from Alara Reborn.

If you are playing casual just bring your favorite artifacts and cheat them into play. Darksteel Colossus? or how about Platinum Angel.

Hi Taylor,

I responded to you comment on the blog but here is what I wrote. Good luck with Esper.
