Today I was looking at MTG Salvation and I noticed they added a bunch of new cards to the Shards of Alara spoiler. One card in particular caught my attention: Goblin Assault.

Goblin Assault

2r
Enchantment Rare
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a 1/1 red Goblin creature token with haste into play.
Goblin creatures attack each turn if able.

Well if this isn’t the Bitterblossom for goblins I don’t know what is. I wonder if each major creature type will get a card like this. Kind of lame if you ask me. Bitterblossom is so good and it will be annoying if every deck will begin to run these enchantments. Assault is better because you don’t loose any life but it does cost one more. Still an amazing rare if you ask me.

Shards of Alara is going to be one awesome and crazy block for sure.

Nothing can compare 1/1 flyers to 1/1 hasters… In this case paying 1 life grants more versatility and the tribal supertype combines with Scion of Oona perfectly, for instance… In fact, I think Goblin Assault should be uncommon and not rare because if you’re playing a goblin tribal deck its second ability may be really dangerous for yourself…

I dont think that goblin assault was intended for tribal decks. It wrks quite well in RDW and blightining beatdown.
