Welcome to a casual player’s blog dedicated to enjoying and experiencing Magic: The Gathering. Currently Casual Magic is piloted by two authors Norm and Rick.

Basically I wanted to start an online communication related to Magic. It is very easy for me to get fully immersed in this game and this is just another extension of this hobby. I find Magic to be completely relaxing and entertaining. As it provides a great challenging and creative outlet for me.

I started playing when Guildpact from Ravnica Block was the current set. So I’ve spent most of my time building standard decks, playing FNM, drafting and playing around the kitchen table. My favorite format is limited sealed deck as I like the challenge of building something new on the fly. As I stay with the game I expect I’ll get into extended and eventually legacy formats.

I enjoy playing all colors and here are two of my favorite creatures:

I play magic both casually and competitively in Columbus Ohio. My friend Norm invited me to share my thoughts and experiences on his Casual Magic blog once or twice a week. I have played Magic since Onslaught Block, my friends introduced me to both MtG and Poker during my freshman year at The Ohio State University and I’ve enjoyed both immensely. I feel MtG is, with its blend of poker and chess, one of the most mentally challenging games on the market. I’m no professional Magic player and I’m no professional writer but I have lots of fun playing this game I hope you do too.

I enjoy the limited formats of Magic the most: drafting, sealed, pack wars and Cubing. I play constructed as well but only when there’s no drafting to be done. My favorite creature is Exalted Angel, my favorite fomat is Team Drafting and my favorite color is Counterspell.

This is a pretty neat set up you got going on here. I’m the dude you played this past weekend at the PTQ in PA. I like the whole idea of just talking about magic and putting together creative ideas. I’m a bit of an abstract deck builder myself so I can appreciate the in depth look into unassuming cards in the set and explain their potential usefulness. Until next time…

Hi Casual Magic guy,

Here is a video I made with some info about how I learn to play Magic in my own review and how i lose to a little girl. I hope you like it.

I’m okay with you sharing this if you want.

Norm - April 26, 2009

Ha ha. Thanks fun review.

Hey, I’m a new blogger you can find here at http://magicthegatheringguide.com
and your site is awesome and very related to mine; I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to do a blogroll link exchange. Please let me know if you’re interested.

I hope you’re not tired of requests such at this – I opened a new Magic Q&A website at http://draw3cards.com/

I think the site has great potential, it’s unlike most Magic sites and forums because of its built-in voting system.

If you visit and find the site useful or interesting to your readers, please consider writing a short blog post about.

I have developed a handful of magic the gathering related gadgets that can easily be added to any website and was wondering if you might be interested in using them on your blog. If you are, please send me an email and I’ll get you more info.

I made a new, free Magic Draft Simulator because I felt that the other simulators could be seriously improved upon. It shows your previous picks graphically in a similar manner to MTGO as well as providing a sealed deck simulator. Check it out at MagicDraftSim.com.

P.S. I hope this doesn’t come across as spam…I hate spam, and all my IRL magic friends have loved the site so far, so I figured you guys would too.

I’ve been trying to get in touch with you guys in order to possibly swap links with my Magic: The Gathering store and my Magic: The Gathering blog but I can’t seem to find a contact e-mail.

I’m too concerned mainly with the casual side of Magic so I believe this would be a great fit.

Please get in touch with me.
